We design and develop applications tailored to your processes, from internal tools to digital products for your customers.

What custom software is

It is an application built for a specific process in your company, instead of adapting the process to what a generic program allows. It makes sense when the way you work is part of what sets you apart, or when no tool on the market covers the case without workarounds. We do not build isolated demos: these are systems that integrate with your real processes, data and tools.

How it differs

  • From a SaaS

A SaaS is a generic subscription product: your company adapts to it. Custom software adapts to your process, in exchange for a larger upfront investment and having to maintain it.

  • From low-code and no-code

Visual platforms speed up prototypes and simple dashboards. In exchange they limit the architecture, deep integrations and the option of taking the system to another provider.

  • From AI-generated code

An AI assistant produces prototypes quickly. A system in production also needs architecture, testing, security and maintenance.

What we build

  • Web applications

Tools accessed from the browser, for your team or for your customers.

  • Mobile applications

Applications for phones and tablets when the work happens away from the desk.

  • Internal platforms

Back offices and dashboards to manage operations, data and reports in one place.

  • APIs and integrations

Connections so the application exchanges data with your ERP, your CRM and the rest of your tools.

Examples of what we have already done

  • Internal tool

An application for the team to manage orders, work reports or incidents in one place, instead of spreadsheets and emails.

  • Customer portal

An area where customers check their documents, the status of their requests or their invoices.

  • Indicators dashboard

A dashboard that brings together data from several systems and shows the indicators management needs.

  • Bookings and appointments

A system to book rooms, resources or appointments, with automatic confirmations and reminders.

  • Inventory control

An application that tracks stock across several warehouses and alerts when an item falls below a minimum.

  • Fieldwork

A mobile app for technicians to record visits, photos and signatures without paper.

When it helps

When data is copied by hand between systems, when a process lives in specific people's heads, or when the work relies on spreadsheets that can no longer cope. The usual answer is a mix: standard tools for what any company needs and custom development for what sets you apart.

When it is not needed

  • If a tool that already exists solves the process, it is usually a better option than building a new one. If standard software is enough, we say so.
  • A custom application does not end on delivery day: it needs maintenance and evolution.
  • Software organizes a process, but it does not define it. If the process is not clear, it should be clarified before any code is written.
  • You need a person in your company with judgment and decision power who prioritizes and validates each delivery. Without one, the technical team works on assumptions.
  • Integrations with other systems are the most underestimated part: they should be studied before scope and timeline are fixed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is custom software?

It is an application built for a specific process in your company, instead of adapting the process to what a generic program allows.

What kinds of custom software does Devontic develop?

Web applications, mobile applications, internal platforms, APIs and integrations.

When is custom software not worth it?

When a tool that already exists solves the process without workarounds. In that case it is usually a better option than building a new one.

Custom software or SaaS?

It depends on how much your process resembles that of other companies. If it is standard, a SaaS is usually enough and costs less to start. If the process sets you apart or no product covers it without workarounds, custom development pays off. Many companies combine both.

What do the cost and timeline of custom software depend on?

Mostly on the number and complexity of integrations, how clear the requirements are, the volume of users and data, and security or regulatory demands. That is why the scope should be defined before asking for a figure.

What does my company need to contribute to the project?

Knowledge of the process, access to the systems and data involved, and a person with decision power who prioritizes and validates each delivery.

How does a custom software project start?

Usually with an analysis meeting to understand the process and a proof of concept before building the rest.

Who owns the code of custom software?

The code belongs to Devontic and the client receives a license to use the software. The specific terms are agreed in the contract.

Is there a warranty after delivery?

Yes, 4 months from delivery. It covers fixing errors in what was delivered. Changes and new features are not part of the warranty.

Tell us about the process

We start with a proof of concept on real data and only scale if the value is demonstrated.
